Join us for the Burning Waters: ‘Diplomazija Astuta’ Retold conference, at the University of Malta Valletta Campus.

Rooted in the dialogue between art, philosophy, and process, the conference explores the resonances between the practices of Victor Pasmore and Arcangelo Sassolino—two artists separated by time, yet united by their exploration of form, material and the tension between control and release.

Organised by Fondazzjoni Patrimonju Malti (FPM) in collaboration with the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Malta, the event will feature contributions from Arcangelo Sassolino, alongside scholars and practitioners from the local and international art community. The artist, Arcangelo Sassolino, will be accompanied by curator Keith Sciberras, Victor Pasmore Gallery editor Giulia Privitelli and internationalisation executive at Arts Council Malta Romina Delia.

Through discussion and exchange, Burning Waters invites reflection on the shared sensibilities between Sassolino’s sculptural investigations and Pasmore’s enduring vision of abstraction, offering a space for creative dialogue, intellectual curiosity, and a renewed perspective.

This event is supported by the UM Gallery of Art and sponsored by Arts Council Malta and the University of Malta.
